Day 7 of my 252km Walk

Day 7
The day started well. My dad woke me up at 4 am to walk the 14 Km to complete the kilometers from the previous day. 3 hours I was back at the camp and slept for an hour or two .
By 9 am after bathing we could not leave the house as the big dog would not let us out .
We were stuck in the house for an hour and half till the owner of the house returned.
On this day I managed to walk a whooping 41 km and it was not easy but it was a lovely walk with the lovely Mpinie Olopeng ,My friend and biggest supporter came to meet me up in Artesia amd we started the walk together. She gave me so much support and I wouldn’t have made it beyond 30 km.
So I do believe that if you walk with a partner then you can definitely walk a longer distance even when your body says otherwise.
41 km walked all the way from Artesia to Mosaditshwene.
I am so close to the finish line, only 26 km left to the pilane and the finish line .
On day 7 it was hard as my groin area was acting up and had to limp, that reduced my pace and the normal pace of 10 45 pm to 12 10 pm.
It took longer to keep to the time frame we estimated. A friend from Gabs brought us some lunch and drinks on the way. And it rained
And we got soaked. My dear friend walked with us , basically he drove behind us for 10 km till we reached the camp area. We were lucky he came when he did because it got darker earlier than expected.
We made it to the camp and we were both exhausted
I am proud to say I have completed the 252 Km walk for charity.
It was a difficult challenge but I managed to make it through the bad terrain, the heat,l, the blisters , the muscle pulls, the sore legs, the flies and all that I faced during the walk.
The experience was surely one way to show and share that there are children out there who have to walk miles to get to school and they do it no matter the challenges before them.
Some children are born into poverty and they have no one to help them or even expose them to a certain kind of life so that they can enjoy life.
Their social backgrounds and environment has a way of hindering their access to education and it may lead to them failing or dropping out of school altogether.
I am a true believer that each and every child deserves education and once their eyes are open, they will be able to make informed decisions which will positively impact their lives.
We all have challenges in life but the children in rural areas face even worse challenges, young girls are raped, they are abused at a young age , they are forced into sexual relationships in the name of having food in the house, they drop out of school due to teenage pregnancies, some just don’t have an opportunity to enjoy school because there is parent to make sure they get to school.
This walk was just a communication to say, if we have the ability to make a change in other’s lives let’s start by helping our young girls with a sanitary pad and we can tackle other issues while she gets to school and learns.
A girl child is a future mother and the future leader. So we have to do everything in our power to pave a better and safer way for them.
Play your part a make a contribution to any organization that supports the welfare of girls and women.

Day 6 of my 252km Walk
01/04/22 13:05
Day 6
I have hit the 204 km .
It’s a battle and I am happy to have managed to have reached this point
Day1 —. 37 km ✅
Day 2 — 33 km✅
Day 3—- 41 km ✅
Day 4 —. 18 km ✅
Day 5—- 28 Km✅
Day 6 —— 42 km✅
Day 7 ——24 km
204 km in 6 days.
I need a strong bottle of something and a full day of sleep.
this girl has been busy ahhhnd is fighting the fight for the girls.
As a mother sister and someone’s daughter, I believe we need to work extra hard to be the voice for our girls.
I have walked over 200 km and I am left with a little under 50 Km to make it back to Mochudi.
We have had a good night sleep. We arrived in Artesia late at night and camped at the Chief’s house. Kgosi Thwaane, a very kind and hospitable gentleman who understands the needs of the the people in his community. He leads with passion and so much wisdom. It was fortunate as he knew my parents and that made it easy to settle in his yard and enjoy a good hot bath before bed.
I am lost for words as this continues to put everything into perspective. Such support motivates me to walk and keep walking to make it to the final point
