LITTLE SHOES PROJECT

The Little Shoes Project supplies shoes for learners, some of whom have to walk many miles each day to and from school.

Thanks to support from two Rotary Clubs in the UK (The Rotary Club of Cambridge & The Rotary Club of Cambridge Sawston) alongside the Rotary Club of Gabarone, we now have funding to provide over 200 pairs of socks and shoes for disadvantaged children in Pilane, Dikgonnye, Kgomodiatshaba and Bodungwane.

The Charity’s Founder, Agrieneth Masule, says “This is a wonderful contribution from Rotary, both in the UK and here in Botswana, and it will change the lives of a large number of children. These children often have to walk many miles each day to and from school, and that can be an arduous journey at the best of times. At least now they have decent shoes the journey will be a little easier. These children need an education - and the provision of shoes is an essential part of that process”.
Agrieneth hopes that local companies and organisations in Botswana will see the benefits in supporting MCC to reach more children in other poor areas of the country. “Just P5000 will provide thirty pairs of shoes, changing so many young lives for the better“, she says.
Donations, however small, would be gratefully received.
Our good friend Sydney Baker has set up a Go Fund Me page so that we can receive donations:

LITTLE SHOES PROJECT

Motlaletsi Charity Club in partnership with The Rotary Club of Cambridge implemented a school shoes project.

245 pairs of shoes have been donated to different learners across the district. Comfort for the little people is important as they embark on a journey to learn and explore, and they must walk a long way to school and back.

In many parts of the country, especially in remote areas, there are many children who walk up to 5-10 km to school every day. These children walk in harsh conditions (its either too hot or too cold in the mornings) to get to school to gain some knowledge to better their lives.

As much as they make efforts to get to school, social challenges impede their only chance to break away from the cycles of poverty.

The Little Shoes Project's main goal is to give the children confidence, as they will be in full school uniform, looking like all the other children.

Our club works hard to provide the children with school shoes and socks, so that they have less problems to worry about and can concentrate on their studies.
