MCC's main focus is to provide the school going child with basic things which may help them enjoy their school and learning experience. Once a term, the children each receive a school bag to be able to carry their school books.
Once a term the children each receive a pen, pencil, eraser and a ruler for use at school, so they will not be left behind when others are writing their work.
THE CHANA FAMILY SCHOOL BAG DONATIONS
Sometime in February I had an opportunity to attend ONE of the club meetings with the Rotary Club of Gaborone,
where I was asked to speak about the Motlaletsi Charity club and what it does for the community.
It is within spaces like that , we are able to share our projects and share how they are developing with the hope to get more support.
In collaboration with the local Rotary Club of Gaborone,
we received some school bags and we were excited to receive them and find suitable beneficiaries for them.
Our team went out to have a little chat with our local village development friends in the community
and devised the more suitable plans on how to donate the limited number of school bags.
The club supports around 300 children from the primary school and secondary schools in Mabodisa and Makgophana ward,
where we look after them by providing basic School supplies.
And as we all know choosing a few of them and leaving the rest behind is not the best thing ever,
but we do always try to balance the donation given the limited funding and sponsorship.
Our goal is to help all the children, even if it not at the same time.
The donation of the 17 school bags came at a very good time for us and the children were super happy.
Our strategy was to sit under a tree after having a few chats with the local teachers and parents,
so that we can be able to choose and donate without anyone feeling left behind.
For a whole month, the club members have gone out to families and have had chats with them and eventually made a conclusion.
We chose according to those who have never had a bag and who we felt would not have an opportunity to get one in the future.
That worked out pretty well for us and we had our 17 candidates who will from that have a good, strong and secure bag to carry their books to school.
A simple school bags provides confidence and pride for the child and they are able to keep their books clean and intact,
The school bag Protects the books from any dust, dirt and tear it may get if carried around without a school bag.
So a big thank you to Rotary Club of Gaborone and the Chana Family for this life changing donation for our little ones.
