SANITARY PADS
THE OCTOBER CHAT

When you hear the word sanitary pad, what comes to your mind??
A girl, a woman, school, work I didn't think so. Then what really comes to your mind

Puberty, Maturity, Freedom, Luxury Or it’s just a sanitary pad.

Have you ever wondered how not having a sanitary affects one's life.
So, in the picture below you see this lovely girl with that big smile on her face.
Three good possible reasons

1. She has a sanitary pad
2. She has the freedom to attend her lessons without any disruptions
3. She does not have to depend on a man to purchase her a sanitary pad in exchange for her body
She is free ,she is confident and she's ready to take on the WORLD.

TO ANSWER THAT, A SANITARY PAD IS A KEY TO FREEDOM AND OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND ALL HER LESSONS.

Many of us do not understand how many girls are faced with challenges out there, but once you have seen the need, you are likely going to want to be part of the solution. That is what I look forward to hearing
.
Follow our discussions and events on Facebook and see how you can be part of the change.

We have many girls in rural areas or even in towns who still go without a sanitary pad because their parents cannot afford to purchase them. When one cannot afford to purchase a basic thing as a sanitary pad, then you can imagine the many things they have to go without.

So we are here, a team of dedicated community members with the aim to address the issues surrounding period poverty.
On a monthly basis we shall have discussions on how lack of basic needs for a girl child could have detrimental consequences for her and for her family.
The many problems we face with our young girls will need time to be resolved. These need involvement from different stakeholders and workshops which will teach our girls how to face these challenges and to get the men and boys involved to help them understand their role and impact in all of it.

The biggest challenge is dropping out of school. It could be due to many days missed during the term or teenage pregnancy (many issues to be explored to be able to find an appropriate solution)

This issue needs to be addressed so that we never have to see a young girl at the age of 13 (such a minor) pregnant and having to miss school to become a mother.
Development comes with having a community that cares for others.
